Chaminade is blessed with blue skies and pleasant weather throughout the year. Guests will enjoy swimming in the heated, 50-foot outdoor pool, as well as taking in the natural surrounding beauty as they luxuriate in the bubbling Jacuzzi. Four Lighted Tennis Courts, Pickleball, and Volleyball

Play a set with friends on our four lighted tennis courts set among the towering eucalyptus. Racquets and tennis balls may be loaned out to guests at the fitness center, on a first come first serve basis.

Enjoy a game of Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in North America, on our two lighted courts. Equipment rental is available for all guests. Perfect for all ages and abilities.

A sand volleyball court offers guests the opportunity to challenge one another, while basking in the beautiful sunshine. Try your hand at croquet, on our lush sports lawn. Equipment is available at the fitness center and may be loaned out to guests on a first come first serve basis.

Scenic Hiking Trails

With over 3 miles of hiking trail meandering through the resort, you will surely feel miles away from ordinary. A variety of terrain and intensity levels on our trails will suit every guest and make you feel refreshed.

Guests enjoy exploring more than three miles of lush hiking trails meandering through pristine eucalyptus groves and grassy fields. Chaminade boasts 200+ acres and gives guests the opportunity to step out and experience a variety of beautiful terrains. The trails may be enjoyed by hikers of all abilities, but please note that trails are not paved. Maps are available to guests at the on-site Pro Shop

Come and join us at the Fitness Center. The Fitness Center is located inside the 1,700 square foot Spa at Chaminade. With a variety of activities and classes to keep you on track, the Fitness Center will assist you in maintaining your fitness regime.

Our fitness facility offers top of the line Cybex equipment. Treadmills, elliptical, stair machines, recumbent and upright bikes. The Fitness Center also has three flat screen televisions with digital TV.

Group Fitness Classes

Hiking Santa Cruz County State Parks & Beaches

Santa Cruz County boasts 14 state parks covering a range of terrain from wave-swept beaches to rugged mountain ridges. These vast expanses of preserved land are a testament to conservation efforts that have been ongoing for over a century. Get the best of what Santa Cruz has to offer by starting a trail in a thicket of redwoods and ending on the sandy shore.

Though Redwood National Park may not fit into your travel schedule, two of Santa Cruz’s State Parks feature these ancient trees:

  • Encompassing 18,000 acres California’s oldest state park, Big Basin Redwoods State Park is home to the largest continuous stand of ancient growth redwoods south of San Francisco.
  • With 20 miles of hiking trails Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park includes a variety of forested areas including redwoods, mixed evergreens, riparian, ponderosa pine, as well as rare ancient marine deposits called Santa Cruz sandhills.

If you are looking to stay on property, Chaminade has three miles of scenic hiking trails stretched over its 300 acre property.

High-Rise Canopy Tour & Zip Line Adventure

Redwood Canopy Tours at Mount Hermon offers visitors an exciting eco-adventure into the redwood canopy of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Enjoy the coastal redwood forest from the unique perspective only a zip-line canopy tour can offer. The two hour guided tour includes six zip-lines and two sky bridges at heights of up to 150 feet. Each tour of up to eight is led by two certified guides who share their ecological knowledge and bring the history of the Santa Cruz redwood forest to life. The Redwood Canopy Tours are the original canopy tour zip-lines in the redwood forest and are the only facility of its kind in the region.


"One if by land, and two if by sea", the saying goes, so bring a friend! Elkhorn Slough is one of the last coastland wetlands in California. Located on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, 3.5 miles from Moss Landing, it has been described in the San Francisco Chronicle as the best place for wildlife viewing along the length of California Highway 1. This dramatic backdrop has wildlife year-round - otters, seals, sea lions and an infinite variety of birds.

Historic Steam Train- Roaring Camp Railroads

Roaring Camp, located just six miles up the hill from Santa Cruz, is a re-creation of an 1880's logging town, operating trains every day of the year except for Christmas Day. This heritage railway boasts authentic 1880's steam locomotives operating on our Redwood Forest Steam Train excursion and 1920's era Beach Trains to Santa Cruz. Choose your ride between two main rides:

  • Beach Train - A 3-hour round trip ride, from Roaring Camp to the Beach Boardwalk.
  • Steam Train - A one-hour round-trip featuring a ride up Bear Mountain.

Wrights Station - With some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in the Summit area (planted 1981), Wrights Station invites you to taste in an elegantly repurposed 1947 farmhouse.  Relax in the living room, lounging on the enclosed porch or picnicking on the expansive deck.



Richard Alfaro and and his wife Mary Kay enjoy the fruits of their labor. After a satisfying career as the founders of a restaurant and the wholesale baking company known under their own name - Alfaro's Micro Bakery - the couple shifted gears in 1997, acquiring an aging 75 acre apple farm south of Santa Cruz in Corralitos, California, which they subsequently transformed into Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery.  With 56 acres currently under vine, the most-recently planted 8 acres was CCOF Certified Organic in 2010.



Bargetto Winery has produced hand-crafted wines in the Santa Cruz Mountains since 1933.We specialize in estate grown varietals from our Regan Estate Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, overlooking the beautiful Monterey Bay.

Redwood Canopy Tours

The Mount Hermon Canopy Tours are thrilling and awe-some! This is the perfect family adventure for those looking to getaway from the beach and looking for adventure...up 150 feet. Roaring Camp Railroads

Located  in the Santa Cruz mountains in the quaint town of Felton, Roaring Camp Railroads is home to fun, adventure for the whole family.  You can ride authentic steam locomotives that date all the way back to the late 1800s or take the Santa Cruz Beach train all the way to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (hint: this helps avoid parking and traffic). Explore a historic coastal ranch, complete with horses, goats, and miles of hiking trails.  Wilder Ranch State Park is located just off highway 1, north of Santa Cruz.  Enjoy a "day in the life" of folks in 1880's, as you walk/bike through this historic ranch.  Choose between miles of flat coastal walking trails, or hike up the mountains toward UCSC.

  • UCSC Arboretum - The UCSC Arboretum is home to hundreds of plant species from all around the world. Enjoy a peaceful walk through the gardens with a picnic lunch or stop in for an educational lesson.  
  • Whale Watching - Whale watch from a variety of fleets right here at the Santa Cruz Harbor. From May to November, look out for humpback whales, which make the Monterey Bay their feeding ground.  December through April, be prepared to see gray whales. Sailing charters include the graceful Chardonnay sail boats.
  • Natural History Museum - While heading to the beach stop off at our local natural history museum.
