“There is a small group at Apple that most certainly has met Steve jobs. It’s called the Top 100, and every year or so Jobs gathers these select few for an intense three-day strategy session at the proverbially secure, undisclosed location. Everything about this Top 100 meeting is shrouded in secrecy, starting with its very existence. Those tapped to attend are encouraged not to put the meeting on their calendars. Discussion of their participation is a no-no, even internally. Attendees aren’t allowed to drive themselves to the gathering. Instead they ride buses that depart from Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters to places like the sumptuous Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz, Calif., which satisfies two Jobs requirements: good food and no golf course. Apple goes so far as to have the meeting rooms swept for electronic bugs to stymie snooping competitors…. “

...Chaminade is a conference center that offers complete meeting packages. As Joan Eisenstodt (who founded W2W along with Vanessa Vlay) noted in my pre-conference post about W2W, The staff knows us and is always happy to see us... Those of us who have been steadily involved know that place and comfort have as much to do with outcomes as do content and delivery.

Grrrrrrreeat Hotel for Corporate Meetings!
The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is for the customer service. I've planned a lot of meetings and all of the places I've worked with in the past can learn from the level of customer service that this hotel provides. Despite the many last minute things that came up and the torrential downpour during our meeting, they made everything seamless and stress-less. The grounds are beautiful and the conference facilities are very nice. Picturesque views of the ocean in each meeting room.....

We just held our company retreat at the Chaminade and it's hard to say just how impressed I was by the location, the staff and the organization the venue afforded us.
From beginning to end, Sarah G and Dianne F were outstanding event organizers and made sure that our every need (and trust me they changed almost hourly) were met, if not surpassing them each time....

Chaminade Pluses....
1) last minute count: in these wild economic times, how you are willing to work with our changing count up to the last minute is much appreciated. 2) meeting room: We like the downstairs room (with the patio). Plus I enjoyed the nice Yamaha piano for a couple of early morning practices :-) 3) Mike and the inclusive AV package is so great (I don't have to preplan or carry a bunch of AV equipment). Plus he is so good to work with compared to other venue AV staff. 4) Jennifer was incredibly attentive and present every day tending to last minute needs (like getting incandescent lights when the overhead florescents made a loud distracting hum). She definitely outdid herself this time. .... Great communicator. 5) Meal location, food quality, and service staff was super. 6) Gym and hiking trails very popular 7) Matt's clarity, precision, and ease make the dollar transactions simple and enjoyable.

On the Sunday night after we left Chaminade, two of our team flew to Munich to give a Tuesday presentation. For that event, we had to last minute assemble and pack 300 information packets...... which would have meant an all nighter for some of us. We asked for Chaminade help.....and the front desk, along with Joey and James came to the rescue after hours. So by the time we left on Sunday afternoon, we had packed and weighed 100 lbs of materials to Lufthansa specifications, and the event in Munich went off without a hitch. Please extend my thanks for that that kind of can do extra responsiveness.

PERFECTION...
Perfection! That is the only word I can use to describe our Chaminade experience! Thank you for all your help, ideas, and flexibility as we pulled together the board event on short notice. Everyone had a great time and appreciates all the hard work of the Chaminade team to make the event exceed expectations.

Excellent time had by all attendees...
We have a lovely time. The food, atmosphere and service was wonderful! I will be sure to refer the Chamindae to friends/colleagues looking for corporate retreat options. Thanks for all of your help.
